UPDATE: New Castle woman pleads in chase that followed shooting

By Matt Snyder

SHARON — A New Castle woman pleaded guilty this week to reckless endangerment, fleeing police, and accidents involving injury for driving into a police car after a shooting last June at Big E’s Social Club in Farrell.

Dominique Shante Taylor, 22, pleaded guilty before Common Pleas Judge Thomas R. Dobson.

A car chase after the shooting led a black SUV to crash into a utility pole on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Spearman Avenue. Police were at the scene when a car driven by Ms. Taylor failed to stop for police.

Police said Ms. Taylor’s car sped up. One policeman jumped out of the way. She hit another cruiser and knocked the policeman inside unconscious. The policeman who got out of the way opened fire on her car.

Ms. Taylor was later caught by New Castle police, and admitted to being the driver when the car wrecked into the cruiser, police said.

While no one was ever charged for the shooting at Big E’s, several were charged in the chase. Juan Gibson, 22, Detroit, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in April for his role in the chase and was sentenced to 6 months to a year in jail and 2 years’ probation. He tried to run over a patrolman, police said.

The shooting at the now-closed club at 313 Union St., left three people injured, police said. They chased the SUV and a car from the scene.
