SHENANGO VALLEY — A Masury girl was killed and seven other young people were injured when a vehicle rolled over a hill Monday morning in the 3900 block of Longview Road in Shenango Township, Southwest Mercer County Regional police said.
Margaret Marmion, 17, of 8176 Warren Sharon Road, was pronounced dead at the scene by Mercer County Deputy Coroner Dr. Charles Zeigler, police said. Margaret, a passenger, was thrown from the vehicle, police said.
Zeigler has not ruled on her cause of death, police said.
The driver, Kayla Byknish, of Sharon, was treated at UPMC Horizon, Farrell, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Raquel Rust, 19, of Brookfield, and Michael Sakara, 18, of Niles, Ohio, were treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Police said Ian Kelly, 19, of Sharon; Seth Hipkins, 18, of Sharon; and two 17-year-olds whom police did not name were treated at UPMC or St. E’s. Hospital spokeswomen said they had no record of them having been there.
Police said they were called at 1:11 a.m. and arrived to find the vehicle on its passenger side. It appeared Kayla had lost control while westbound.
Shenango Township volunteer firefighters and Hermitage police assisted.
