HERMITAGE — Judge John C. Reed on Monday sentenced a 73-year-old man to 2 to 6 months in Mercer County Jail after he pleaded guilty to having more than 240 images of child pornography on his computer.
Roger Ellsworth Henry, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive, Apartment 212, Hermitage, will also serve 6èmonths’ probation, with house arrest.
He pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography on Feb. 6.
Police said Henry took his computer to a West Pittsburg man for repair over a year ago. That man found the child pornography files and told Henry to remove them, or he would call police.
But in April last year, Henry took the computer back again for repairs, and the repairman called state police when he found the images were still in the folder, police said.
Police seized the computer and Cpl. John Stepansky of the state police’s computer forensics unit said that besides the 244 child pornography images, he also found e-mail correspondence with another person collecting and viewing child porn, and more than 115 images depicting bestiality.
Stepansky said he stopped counting at 115.
Police said Henry told them he thought he had deleted all of the child porn, and claimed he did not know it was illegal.
Henry had also been convicted in California for lewd acts involving children, police said.
