SHARON —
A Sharon woman is accused of animal cruelty after leaving one emaciated dog outside and another abandoned inside a house in the last two months, Mercer County Humane Society Agent Renee Dorogy said.
Lushious White, no age given, was cited Friday in two cases with cruelty to animals.
Neighbors at White’s former home on East Budd Street called the humane society Aug. 14 for an emaciated dog left outside with no shelter, food or water, Dorogy said.
She left a notice at the property because no one was home and White called back.
Dorogy said she took the blue-eyed pit bull mix named Deter and he’s being privately boarded.
The dog is doing better but is still very scared, Dorogy said.
At that point, Dorogy said a second dog at the home seemed to be in good shape but didn’t have a shelter. She told White to take it inside until she could find shelter for it.
On Sept. 7, the agency was contacted because the owner of White’s former residence found another dog inside the house and she had moved out.
Dorogy said the pit bull was “very aggressive” and had started getting thin. The Shenango Valley Animal Shelter worked with the society to get the dog out of the house and the dog was taken to the animal shelter.
Deter cannot be adopted until a hearing is held, but Dorogy said she doesn’t have a current address for White.
The society will seek restitution for vet bills and boarding fees and White could face up to a $750 fine in each case.
According to court documents, no court date has been set nor has White entered a plea in the cases.
