SHARPSVILLE —
A Sharpsville man who let two people live with him temporarily became a victim of their thievery, police said.
Kayla Jo Bonnett, 22, of 5886 Virginia Road, Hermitage, and her boyfriend, Kevin J. Flynn, 32, of 7681 Candy Lane, Hermitage, are accused of stealing three guns and an Xbox video game system and games. Both are charged with conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
Flynn, convicted of felony drug charges in 2011, faces an additional charge of possessing a firearm illegally.
Police gave this account:
The homeowner called police July 27 to report the items stolen from his High Street home. He said Bonnett and Flynn had been staying with him for a few days. That morning when he got up to go to work both still were sleeping.
When he got home from work he noticed both of his dogs were out of their cages, Flynn had apparently left with his personal belongings. When the man sat on the couch, he noticed his game system and games missing. He then went upstairs and noticed three guns taken from a gun case.
The next day the man said Bonnett called him and said she and Flynn had taken the guns and video game system and sold all of the items. She told the man where they had taken the items.
Police confirmed Elite Firearms bought a shotgun from Bonnett and paid her $200 for it. Flynn sold a shotgun and rifle for $70 to Gander Mountain, Niles, Ohio, and the Xbox system and games for $93 to Gamestop, also in Niles.
