WEST MIDDLESEX —
A man who was fleeing a sobriety checkpoint set up early Sunday morning on state Route 18 in Pymatuning Township was in the hospital after leading police on a chase that ended when the vehicle crashed at Route 18 and Walnut Street in West Middlesex, according to Mercer County 911.
The man was flown from UPMC Farrell to St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, the 911 spokeswoman said.
Southwest Mercer County Regional Police, the department that covers West Middlesex, didn’t issue a news release Sunday and state police had no information on the crash.
The 911 spokeswoman said it started at a checkpoint on Route 18 near Rutledge Road and the chase involved several police departments.
The man’s name or condition weren’t available Sunday.
