In January, Condi Rice said George W. Bush may go down as one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history. Say what? Even a newly awakened Rip Van Winkle would be wise to the damage he did to this great nation, but he also had a compliant Republican Congress to help.
Inherited genes could be responsible for his failed leadership. I remember my grandparents denouncing grandfather Prescott Bush as a traitor because he used his power of running Union Bank of New York to finance Hitler’s Germany and Krupp armaments until Franklin D. Roosevelt shut the bank down. Prescott Bush made the family fortune as Krupp increased his with wartime slave labor.
As Ronald Reagan was sliding into dementia, Vice President George H. W. Bush let the Saudis know that OPEC could raise oil prices and Americans would adjust to higher gas prices and his Texas oil men could make more money.
Brother Neil Bush, in cahoots with a wealthy Arab, started BCCI, the bank highly responsible for the savings and loan crisis. Charles Keating became the fall guy as Neil and partners walked away with a lot of our money.
Brother Jeb took Hurricane Katrina as a money-making opportunity to sell inadequate pumps not up to the job in case of future flooding. A nice way to earn a fortune and keep it in the family.
When Bush refused New Orleans’ request to rebuild the levees prior to Hurricane Katrina it was called a waste of money. How many billions will it finally cost us in lives, suffering and repair?
Actions of Bush: He said Iraq was woult cost $2 billion a month and fired adviser Larry Lindsey who said it would cost $200 billion.
He fired Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill after he asked where the tax cut was for the little folks.
He fired Gen John Shinseki who said 350,000 troops would be needed in Iraq.
He gave false information for Colin Powell’s embarrassing United Nations speech.
He OK’d more toxic pollution of water and air.
If that’s greatness, I’m wrong.
