Esther P. Dickson

Reynolds homemaker’s ‘life was her family’


Esther P. Dickson of Reynolds, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 81.

Mrs. Dickson was born March 16, 1928, in Sharon to George and Edna Mae O’Connor Dilley.

Esther attended Jackson Center area schools and worked as a custodian for 10 years at Reynolds School District, retiring in 1977.

A homemaker, she was a member of Sharpsville Church of the Nazarene.

Esther enjoyed bowling, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and watching movies, but most of all, loved being with her family and grandchildren. Her life was her family.

Her husband, Francis Dickson, whom she married June 14, 1947, survives at home.

Also surviving are: two daughters, Linda Congdon and her husband Kenneth, Slippery Rock; and Kathleen Pompa and her husband Nicholas, Grove City; a son, Sonny Dickson and his wife Wanda, Reynolds; five grandchildren, Dave Dickson, Michele Walter, Chris Dickson, Kenneth Congdon Jr. and Kelly Kratsas; and eight great-grandchildren.

She also leaves her niece and best friend, Pat Thompson; and several other nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters, Clara Belle Yanik, Lois Shaner, Sarah Raymond, Ollie Bair, Hazel Bodien, Leah Dilley and Georgina Kirby; and four brothers, William, Ziba, Matthew and Melvin Dilley.
