Elsie Louise Powell

Sharpsville woman was Sunday school teacher


A funeral service will be held Tuesday for Elsie Louise Powell, 52 S. Mercer Ave., Sharpsville. She passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning (11-20-09) in her residence. She was 68.

Ms. Powell was born on Nov. 14, 1941, in Sharon, a daughter of Frank and Teresa Rogers Podobnick.

A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Hickory High School, Hermitage.

Elsie retired from Panin Chiropractic in Hermitage, where she had worked as an office assistant and therapist for several years.

She was a member of the Gentle Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, Hermitage.

A loving mother, grandmother and niece, she was devoted to her family and found her greatest joy while spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

She enjoyed volunteering for the Prince of Peace Center, Farrell, and teaching toddler Sunday school classes.

At one time, she had been a member of the Red Hat Society.

Surviving are: her daughter, Lisa C. Young and her husband Robert, Williamsfield, Ohio; her son, Frank H. Powell and his wife Krista, Sharon; and her two grandchildren, Sophia Rose Young and Katelyn Marie Powell.

Elsie’s was preceded in death by her father on Jan. 20, 1990, and her mother, on March 16, 1996.

Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hermitage.
