H. Wayne Stillwagon

Trucker, welder, Marine founded motorcycle group

H. Wayne Stillwagon, a resident since 1977 of 932 Enterprise Road, Pine Township, passed away unexpectedly at 4:30 Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township. He was 59.

Mr. Stillwagon was born Sept. 6, 1950, in Grove City to Harold W. and Margaret Whitehouse Stillwagon.

He was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School, class of 1968.

Mr. Stillwagon was employed at Nelson’s of Harrisville, where he was a welder, and formerly was a truck driver for Nelson Trucking. Prior to that, he was a self-employed trucker and a welder for the former Adobe Mining Co.

A Marine Corps veteran, Mr. Stillwagon served in Vietnam from 1968-71.

He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 519, Grove City; and American Legion Post 852, Harrisville.

He was a founder and was active with the American Legion Riders, Harrisville, and a supporter of the Patriot Riders. Wayne was an avid Harley motorcycle rider and hunter. He was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

His wife, the former Ann Simpson, whom he married April 24, 1976, survives at home.

Also surviving are: two sons, William A. Stillwagon and his wife Amanda, Lincolnton, N.C.; and Philip W. Stillwagon and his wife Lindsay, Grove City; his mother, Margaret Stillwagon, Harrisville; two grandchildren, Ella and Remi Stillwagon; a sister, Barbara J. McKean; and a brother, David A. Stillwagon, both Harrisville.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Donald L. Stillwagon.

Service: Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (11-21-09) in the funeral home.
