John Drobney of Sharon passed away of natural causes at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 89.
Mr. Drobney was born June 16, 1920, in Sharon to George and Mary Grexa Drobney.
John joined The Herald newspaper in Sharon at the age of 18, directly out of high school, and worked for nearly 50 years, retiring as a pressman in the engraving department.
He was an Army veteran.
John enjoyed fishing, camping in Tionesta, motorcycles and listening to polka music every Sunday. He loved spending time with his family.
His wife, the former Jeanne Aggers, survives at home.
Also surviving are: two daughters, Bonnie Banick and her husband Jim, Warren, Ohio; and Linda Lucas and her husband Ron, Sharpsville; a son, Thomas Drobney, Fenelton, Butler County; seven grandchildren, Jim Banick and his wife Judy, Nicholasville, Ky.; Jay Banick and his wife Sherry, Richmond, Ky.; Jeff Morris and his wife Christine, Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; John Morris and his wife Julie, Hermitage; Laura Griffin, Lake Placid, Fla.; Kelly Harmon, Ouido, Fla.; and Lindsey Rottenberger, Tampa, Fla.; and eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Drobney Jones and Mary Drobney Dubey; and a brother, George Drobney.
