Marian I. Auchter

Former Sharpsville woman had worked at Mason’s


WARREN, Ohio — Marian I. Auchter, formerly of Sharpsville, entered peacefully into eternal rest at 3:55 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, in her son’s residence, after a short illness. She was 97.

Mrs. Auchter was born Oct. 3, 1912, in Sharpsville, a daughter of Charles A. and Elizabeth M. Gill Groscost, the last survivor of seven siblings.

She was a graduate of Sharpsville High School, class of 1930.

Marian had been employed as a sales clerk with the former Mason’s department store in Hermitage.

She had resided in Warren since August of this year. She was of the Methodist faith.

On Dec. 3, 1936, Marian was united in marriage to Paul E. Auchter Sr., with whom she shared 60 years of marriage until his passing in October 1990.

Her memories will be cherished by her son, Ford J. Auchter, Warren; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Paul E. Auchter Jr.; two brothers, Gerald and Charles Groscost; and four sisters, Nellie Simon, Dora Mueller, Mini Goral and Sliv Mason.

Her family would like to extend a very special thank you to Hospice of the Valley for their care and compassion in their time of need.

Service and burial: Private with Marian laid to rest next to her husband in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
