A funeral service will be held Saturday for Kenneth E. Schiaville of Hermitage. He passed away at 1:34 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, in his residence after an extended illness. He was 82.
Mr. Schiaville was born May 7, 1927, in Farrell to Samuel and Mary Ann Esposito Schiaville.
He graduated in 1945 from Farrell High School.
Mr. Schiaville worked for 30 years as an electrician at the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant, retiring in 1978.
An Army veteran, he served during World War II and during that time played football.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon.
Kenneth was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and, most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Buddy.
His wife, the former Violet Opalensky, whom he married Dec. 29, 1950, survives at home.
Also surviving are: two daughters, Valerie Gammon and her husband Dean, Mercer; and Maria Marzano and her husband Bob, Hermitage; two sons, James Battyanyi and his wife Blanche, Sharpsville; and George Battyanyi, Sharon; a brother, Samuel Schiaville and his wife Norma, Hermitage; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Kenneth Schiaville; and a sister, Lucille Fox.

Service: Funeral service at noon Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage.
Burial: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
