A funeral service will be held Saturday for Gary R. Yeagley of 1735 Bachop Road, Sandy Creek Township (Clarks Mills). He passed away at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday (11-3-09) in the Center for Compassionate Care, Pittsburgh, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 66.
Mr. Yeagley was born Jan. 13, 1943, in Lodi, Ohio, to Orlo Dwight Yeagley and Edna Irene Gray Bronson Yeagley.
He attended Norwayne High School in Creston, Ohio, and worked for more than 25 years as a lineman for Penn Lines in Scottdale, Pa.
Gary attended Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ in Greenville. He was an avid coon hunter and held membership in the Northwest Pennsylvania Coon Hunters Club.
His wife, the former Anita L. Powell, whom he married July 19, 1997, survives at home.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Molly Winslow and her husband Bentley; four sons, Gary R. Yeagley II and his wife Deema; Theodore Yeagley; Benjamin Yeagley and his wife Donna; and Justin Yeagley and his wife Sarah; two stepsons, J. Robert Powell and his wife Jamie; and Jess A. Powell and his wife Danielle; four brothers, Richard Yeagley, Kenneth Yeagley, Michael Yeagley and Thomas Yeagley; six sisters, Beverly Shepherd, Marilyn Boatner, Eloise Bell, Loretta Christian, Marjorie Huffman and Peggy Larsen; and six grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; two infant children, Theresa and Steven Yeagley; a sister, Janice Murray; an infant sister, Shirley Yeagley; an infant brother, Terry Yeagley; and a stepson, Craig Powell.
