A funeral service will be Thursday for Karen Swartz of Kinsman, who passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 1, 2009, in Orange Village Care Center, Masury. She was 69.
She was born Oct. 29, 1940, in Sharon, a daughter of Lauren and Jennie Gill Templeton.
Mrs. Swartz retired in 1983 from Delphi Packard Electric Systems, Warren, Ohio, where she was a press operator for 19 1/2 years.
She was a graduate of Sharpsville High School, where she was a majorette and in the band.
Mrs. Swartz was of the Methodist faith.
She was a member of the Good Sam Club; the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 518, Kinsman; a CB radio club with the handle of “Pepsi”; was affiliated with Rainbow Girls and DeMolay International; and was a former Cub Scout den mother.
She enjoyed camping, Cleveland Indians games, bowling, playing bingo and gambling.
She is survived by her husband, H. Wayne Swartz, whom she married Oct. 4, 1969; two daughters, Bonita Fertig and her husband Charles, Sharpsville; and Rebecca Smith and her companion Richard Broll, Hartford; a son, Lauren Thomas, Kinsman; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her mother of Masury; and a very good friend, Sonja Black.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael; and her father.
