Phyllis Jean Davis Cattron of 416 S. Ninth St., Sharpsville, was united with her Heavenly Father while surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, March 7, 2010, in her home, after an extended illness. She was 82 years old.
Mrs. Cattron was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Sharpsville, the daughter of Harry T. and Goldie C. Ross Davis.
She was a 1945 graduate of Sharpsville High School and married her childhood sweetheart, James P. Cattron, who passed away Feb. 2, 2010. They had 63 amazing years of marriage.
A 60-plus-year member of First United Methodist Church in Sharpsville, Phyllis served on numerous committees and was active in Sunday school, the church choir and was a communion steward. She loved her church and her church family.
Phyllis was the neighborhood “Mom” and many neighbors, young and old, would come to talk, laugh and share their concerns. Phyllis gave guidance and love from her heart, where all would leave with a smile of comfort and peace.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jill A. Mihocko, wife of Dale, Sharpsville; Jan E. Dunder, wife of David, Hermitage; and James P. “Chip” Cattron Jr., husband of Mary, Hermitage.
She was a loving grandmother to Paul and Michelle Dunder, Todd Prelerson and Ashley Cattron; and a great-grandmother to great-granddaughter, Jordan Prelerson and a soon-to-be-born great-grandson.
She is also survived by her brother, Daniel Davis and his wife Shirley, Hermitage.
Besides her beloved husband, James P. Cattron, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; a stepfather, S.C. “Major” Simonton; a brother, Bobby; a grandson, Joshua Kramer; and a great-grandson, Xander Monaci.
Known to many as Phyllis Jean Cattron, but to her family and friends, she was known as Dear, Mom, Mimi, G.G., Aunt Phyl, Mrs. C., Phyl, Jean and Servant to the Lord.
As an expression of love, in lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, 148 E. Shenango St., Sharpsville 16150.
The family would like to thank Betty Marshall, Leslie Ferguson, Kathi Mitchell and Melvin Bowe for all the love and care they gave to Phyllis. They would also like to thank Dr. Charles D’Auria and his staff, Sharon Regional Hospice nurses, and also all their friends, family, church family and the Rev. Ralph P. Cotten, who helped the Cattron family get through these difficult times.
