Joseph P. Bruno

Westinghouse retiree was St. Joseph’s member

PITTSBURGH — Joseph P. Bruno, 211 Lloydmont Drive, Wexford, Pa., formerly of Elm Avenue, Sharon, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the UPMC Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 88.

Mr. Bruno was born May 28, 1920, in Sharon, a son of Raphael and Maria DeDona Bruno.

He was an alumnus of Sharon High School.     

Mr. Bruno retired from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he worked for 45 years as a tool and die maker.

As an active member at St. Joseph’s Church in Sharon, he served as an usher for many years. 

His wife, the former Rose Marie Patrick, whom he married Sept. 25, 1943, passed away April 15, 1998.

He is survived by a daughter, Joanne Elavsky and her husband John R. Elavsky, with whom he made his home for the past 10 years.

Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard “Bennie” Bruno; and three sisters, Louise Toskin, Clementine Tamber and Nardina Williams.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Tribute Program, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38104-1942.
