A celebration of life funeral service will be held today for Terry Gregory, formerly of Farrell. At 9:08 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, our Heavenly Father cast his eternal light onto 1455 Bolde Drive, Hermitage, and beckoned him home. He was 50.
Mr. Gregory was born July 6, 1958, in Sharon, a son of Herbert and Irene Rankin Gregory.
He was a 1976 graduate of Farrell High School.
Mr. Gregory was formerly employed as a heater inspector with Reznor – a unit of Thomas & Betts Corp., Mercer; and as a police officer with the City of Farrell.
He often spent his spare time coaching the volleyball team and weightlifting programs at Farrell Area School District.
Mr. Gregory was a minister at Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, Farrell, serving in the prison ministry, Sunday school and men’s choir.
He was formerly employed as a detective, chief negotiator, executive protection specialist and security consultant with Mastergrip Private Detective Agency, Farrell. As an employee of the agency, he was named captain of the guard.
Mr. Gregory was a master self-defense instructor, shoto-kan karate instructor and boxing instructor.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, the former Crystal Ellerbe, whom he married Dec. 25, 1980; two daughters, Terrica Gregory and Collette Gregory, both Farrell; two sons, Melvin T. Gregory, New Wilmington; and Marcus Gregory, Farrell; four brothers, James Gregory and his wife Marcia L. Gregory; and Melvin and Anthony Gregory, all Farrell; and Ronnie Gregory and his wife, Lena Gardner, of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Belinda Gregory-Campbell and Eva Gregory-Collins, both Farrell; nine grandchildren; five godchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Seltina Gregory; and a brother, Preston Gregory.
