Community Library of the Shenango Valley, Sharpsville Avenue, Sharon, holds these free programs:

Children’s programs

• April 1 — Kid’s Stuff: Making Easter Baskets, 3 to 4 p.m.

•  April 6 to May 11 — Spring Story Hour at 11 a.m. Tuesdays for ages 3 to 5. Stories, songs, crafts, and more. Register by calling 724-981-4360.

•  April 8 — Kid’s Stuff: Windsocks, 3 to 4 p.m. Create a spring windsock of a beautiful butterfly or a soaring bird.

• April 15 — Kid’s Stuff: Take a Ride on the Color Wheel, 3 to 4 p.m. Explore the color wheel and create a new masterpiece.

• April 22 — Kid’s Stuff: Butterfly in Your Window, 3 to 4 p.m. Make a butterfly window hanging to catch the springtime sun.

• April 29 —  Read to a Therapy Dog, 6 p.m. Practice reading a favorite book to a local therapy dogs brought by Canine Connections.

Adult programs

• April 6 to 27 — Yoga, 6 p.m. Thursdays for a relaxing workout. Bring a mat or blanket. Register by calling 724-981-4360 or by stopping at the desk.

• April 17 — Shenango Valley Pennwriters meeting, 1 p.m. A statewide organization, Pennwriters represents all levels of writers from novices to award winners, and offers opportunities to critique, sharpen skills, and network with other writers. New members welcome.

• April 24 — Common Threads Photography Workshop, 10:30 a.m.  Photographing Nature presented by Bruce Kaiser. Learn about outdoor  photography concerning both nature and landscaping. Register by calling 724-981-4360.

Fun for everyone

• Every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. is Chess Club. Find a challenging partner to play or learn how to play. New members always welcome.

• April 16 — Friday Night at the Movies, 7 p.m. “The Blind Side” (Rated PG-13). A true story of a homeless youngster who is taken in by a wealthy family and fulfills his potential as a person as well as an athlete, becoming a first round pick for the NFL.
