Fundraisers
• Sharon American Legion 299, 1395 E. State St., will hold a clothing drive to benefit the veterans of the Erie Soldiers and Sailors Home. Dropoff will be in the East room of the Legion hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Please note the change in the day.
• Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 100 Penn Ave., Mercer, will hold its third annual “Cookie Walk” at 9 a.m. Dec. 13 in Gallagher Hall. Buy homemade holiday cookies at $4 a dozen. Fresh homemade soups will be sold while people “walk” for cookies. Soup will also be sold in take- home quantities. Info: 724-622-2999.
• Lakeview High School Students for Charity and the Lakeview Educational Foundation are sponsoring a Christmas cookie walk from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 18 in the cafeteria of Lakeview High School. Cost is $4 per dozen of cookies and $9 per box (containers will be provided). Money raised provide scholarships to Lakeview students and assist community members and organizations in need. Dance
• The Greenville Area Leisure Services Association invites fourth- through sixth-graders to an “It’s Elementary Fun Night” from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Recreation Center, 45 Alan Ave.
Lots of games, activities and prizes. Fun night is chaperoned by GALSA staff, volunteers and Reinhart Security.

Holiday events
• Trinity Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Market St., Mercer, is organizing a Living Gifts Market from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mercer High School, where the elementary school band and chorus are presenting their holiday concert at 7 p.m. Instead of material gifts, buyers may choose to honor friends, family and business associates with monetary gifts to this alternative gift-giving program. Sponsored by Heifer International, the event enables struggling families in Third World countries to buy chickens, livestock and training. Info: 724-662-2680 during business hours.
• Christmas Festival, sponsored by Women of Zion’s, 260 Main St., Greenville, is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The event features a Christmas tree walk, a quilt show with quilt raffle, artisans with homemade Christmas gifts, a cookie walk in the Bakery Shoppe and a luncheon.
• Juniper Village at The Shenango Inn, 1330 Kimberly Road, Sharon, holds its 13th annual Shenango Inn grand holiday dinner at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 17. Special holiday entertainment will be provided. Reservations: 724-347-4000.
Support group
• Circle of Support, a support group for parents and families of children with kidney disease, meets from 7 to 9 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at Panera Bread in Hermitage.

• Hickory High School class of 1960 meets for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at Ferrara’s, 1208 Hall Ave., Sharon.
• The Mercer County Christian Coalition meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Shenango Valley Senior Community Center, North Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage. The Rev. William Schafer of Dewey Avenue Holiness Church, New Castle, will speak on “Political vs. Biblical Correctness.” Ed and Sandy Ceremuga will entertain with Christmas carols. • Stony Point Homemakers will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the home of Carol Weary, 360 Fredonia Road, Fredonia. Co-hostess with her is Marian Johns. After the meeting the group will pack boxes of cookies to take to residents of Greystone Country Estates and have a tureen lunch. In the afternoon, the group will take the gifts to Greystone and sing Christmas carols. Members are asked to take any lap robes and blankets they have finished, gifts for Early Head Start, a nonfood product for the Salvation Army and an item for service women.
• Sharon High School class of 1952 meets at 1 p.m. Friday at Avalon Buhl Park, Hermitage. All friends, classmates and spouses welcome. Info: 724-347-5388.
• Shenango Valley Pennwriters gather from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Community Library of the Shenango Valley, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon. The date was changed because of Christmas. There will be a gift exchange amounting to no more than $10. It should be appropriate for writers. All interested writers are invited and guests are welcome. If you have something appropriate to read for the season, please bring it, plus with what you already intend to present to the group.
