Check eBay for tickets to Repeal Day event

SHARON — The Repeal Day event Saturday at The Corinthian in Sharon is sold out, but two tickets are being auctioned on eBay.

The auction ends Thursday and proceeds from the eBay sale will benefit the Shenango River Watchers, a nonprofit watershed group founded to clean up, preserve and protect the environmental, scenic and recreational attributes of the Shenango River. The ’30s era-themed event celebrates the repeal of Prohibition and will feature live music from Max Schang and Bathtub Gin Swing, food, a silent auction, some surprises by the Walnut Lodge Players and some 68 craft beers to sample. A donation receipt from the Shenango River Watchers will be provided for any amount paid over the face value of the ticket.  For more information or to find the link to the tickets on eBay, visit www.repealday.blogspot.com.

Pet food drive continues at Hillcrest-Flynn

HERMITAGE — Hillcrest-Flynn Pet Funeral Home is trying to collect 25,000 pounds of pet food to benefit six of the area’s animal rescue groups -- Animal Advocacy, Animal Appeal, Club Pet, Pet Solutions, The Mercer County Humane Society and Strayhaven Animal Shelter -- which are facing tough times as they are taking in many more pets because of the struggling economy. Shelter donations are low to none and they are finding themselves with little food to carry them through the winter. Anyone who donates before Dec. 18 may register to win a dog or cat holiday basket valued at $75. Donations can include: dog or cat food (no expired please), bleach, blankets (laundered please), cat or dog toys, cat litter, dog or cat treats, paper towels or laundry detergent. Visit www.hillcrestflynn.com or call 724-347-5100 for details. Hillcrest-Flynn is located at 2619 E. State St., Hermitage.
