HERMITAGE — Hillcrest-Flynn Pet Funeral Home has launched the a huge pet food and supply drive in Shenango Valley’s history.
The goal is to raise 25,000 pounds of pet food to fill the Hillcrest garage. The event benefits six of the area’s animal rescue groups -- Animal Advocacy, Animal Appeal, Club Pet, Pet Solutions, The Mercer County Humane Society and Strayhaven Animal Shelter -- which are facing tough times as they are taking in many more pets because of the struggling economy.
Donations are low to none and they are finding themselves with little food to carry them through the winter.
Anyone that donates before Dec. 18 can register to win a dog or cat holiday basket valued at $75. Donations can include: dog or cat food (no expired please), bleach, blankets (laundered please), cat or dog toys, cat litter, dog or cat treats, paper towels, laundry detergent.
