Support group

• Grandparents Second Time Around Support Group is hosting a parent training, Creating Lasting Family Connections “Getting Real,” at Minority Heath Center/ERASE, 211 Federal St., Farrell. Class will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Thursday for five-weeks beginning this week.

Parents and others caring for youth will increase their knowledge of modern attitudes and issues associated with alcohol and drug use.

Meetings

• AARP Shenango Valley Chapter 3616 meets at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Shenango Valley Senior Center, 220 N. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage.

Blood pressure screenings will be available beginning at 12:30 p.m. prior to the meeting, which features a program on first aid during an emergency situation.

• Grove City Area AARP Chapter 3423 meets at noon Nov. 12 in Williamson Hall of Tower Presbyterian Church. A board meeting will be held at 11 a.m. prior to the regular meeting.

Richard Young will present a program on the Civil War.

There will be a bakeless bake sale and money will be collected for the Christmas dinner.

The meeting is open to all interested persons over the age of 50. Those attending are asked to bring a hot or cold dish, and table service.

Fundraisers

• Sharpsville Presbyterian Women will hold a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 13 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14 at First Presbyterian Church, 603 Ridge Ave., Sharpsville.

Lunch will be available.

• A roast beef dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Wheatland-Farrell United Methodist Church, 75 Mercer Ave., Wheatland.

Dinner includes dessert and beverage. Cost is $8 for adults; $4 for children age 4 to 12; and children ages 3 and younger are free. Proceeds benefit the general fund.

• St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 65 S. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, is taking orders for: Pogacha, $3.50; nut rolls, $10; apple strudel, $7; sugar doughnuts $7 a dozen and $3.50 for half a dozen.

Orders are to be picked up at noon Nov. 22 at the church.
