Theatre Westminster going down ‘Rabbit Hole’

NEW WILMINGTON — Theatre Westminster will present David Lindsay-Abaire’s Rabbit Hole, today through Sunday in Beeghly Theater on the campus in New Wilmington. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 through 10; and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 11. The student production is under the direction of Dr. Scott Mackenzie, Westminster associate theater professor. Prices for general admission is $7 for adults; and $5 for seniors and non-Westminster students.

Grove City College symphony to give concert

GROVE CITY — The Grove City College Symphony Orchestra will present a concert at 8 p.m. Friday10/9 in Pew Fine Arts Center’s Ketler Auditorium. The orchestra will be celebrate composer anniversaries: George Frederic Handel died in 1759; Franz Joseph Haydn, in 1809; and Felix Mendelssohn was born in 1809.

McKeever Center slates 3 programs

SANDY LAKE — McKeever Environmental Learning Center, 55 McKeever Lane, near Sandy Lake, will host these events:

• Night Sky — 7 p.m. Friday. Rain date will be Saturday.

• Sunday Stroll — 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Participants should bring drinking water and weather appropriate clothing.

• Migration Morning — 7:30 a.m. Oct. 17.

Deadline is Dec. 31 for tax/rent rebate

HARRISBURG -- The deadline has been extended to Dec. 31 for eligible homeowners and renters to submit Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program application. The program gives senior citizens and other qualifying residents state rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2008. The maximum rebate a homeowner or renter can receive is $650. Eligible homeowners who pay 15 percent or more of their income in property taxes also can receive an additional $325, bringing their maximum rebate to $975. Rebates are available to income-eligible Pennsylvanians 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older and 18 or older with a permanent disability. The income limit for these Pennsylvanians is $35,000 for homeowners and $15,000 for renters, excluding half of Social Security or federal railroad retirement income. Info: 724-981-4655. Handel’s ‘Messiah’ set rehearsals ongoing

NEW CASTLE — Rehearsals are under way for the 69th performance of George Frederick Handel’s “Messiah,” to be staged at 3 p.m. Nov. 29 in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Lucymont Drive, New Castle.
