• Hermitage Agway will hold a fall festival featuring pet pictures with a scarecrow from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
Pictures are $2 and will be e-mailed to you. First 30 people to sign-up for pictures will receive a free pet gift bag with goodies for your pet. For those of you taking your pets to Hillcrest Dog Park between noon and 1:30 p.m. for their Howl-o-Ween Doggie Costume Contest — just stop in at Hermitage Agway before or after the contest for an extraordinary pet picture opportunity.
Fundraisers
• Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mercer, hosts a Steeler/Brown tailgate party fundraiser on Oct. 18. Doors open at noon. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children and includes food, beverages and prizes. Details or tickets, call 724-662-2999.
• Animal Appeal, a pet education and rescue organization, is conducting a dog food drive. Donations of dry dog food are greatly needed to provide for pets awaiting adoptive homes. Donations may be dropped off at Donofrio’s, 1749 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage. Info: 724-962-9284.
• First United Methodist Church, 237 W. Silver St., Sharon, holds a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 10. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday with a bake sale being held all day.
• St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 65 S. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, is having a pogacha/sugar doughnuts and apple strudel sale Oct. 11. Orders are to be picked up at noon. • Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 710 Carnegie Ave., Sharon, is having an Hungarian dinner from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 18. There will also be a mini bazaar. Menu includes pigs in the blanket, sausage, green beans, mashed potatoes, buttered bread, cake, coffee and tea. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 and younger. • The Second Fall Community Clothes Closet is set for 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Central Christian Church, 44 S. Main St., Hubbard, across from Handyman Hardware.
Please use the entrance from the side door by the street. Everyone is welcome and takes as much as they need. There is no charge, as all the clothing has been donated.

• Reynolds Area Girl Scouts will hold a registration night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Central Community Church, 3571 N. Hermitage Road, Pymatuning Township. Parents or guardians of girls in kindergarten through 12th grade who are interested in signing up their daughters are encouraged to attend.

ä Emmanuel Christian Church, 4495 Greenville-Sandy Lake Road, Stoneboro, will hold grief support meetings at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month.
ä “Understanding Grief: Helping Yourself Heal,” a nine-week group for people dealing with loss, will be held at Grove City Alliance Church, 845 N. Liberty Road, Pine Township, at 7 p.m. Thursdays beginning Oct. 8. The series is free.

• AARP Shenango Valley Chapter 3616 meets at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Shenango Valley Senior Center, 220 N. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage. Blood pressure screenings will be available prior to the meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tom Rookey, legislative chairman, requests that all members and community minded folks be present to meet with elected officials including State Representative Mark Longietti, County Commissioner Brian Beader, and Hermitage city manager, Gary Hinkson and Gary Gulla. They will give discuss what is happening at the federal, state and local levels financially and politically. A bus trip is being planned to Wheeling Downs Casino in West Virginia for Oct. 28. The bus will leave KMart parking lot in Hermitage at 9:30 a.m. and will return about 7 p.m. Cost for the trip is $22 and includes $10 in slot money and a full buffet dinner. Details: 724-962-9456.
