Pymatuning State Park features Eagle Weekend
JAMESTOWN — Pymatuning State Park, 2660 Williamsfield Road, Jamestown, will sponsor Pennsylvania Pymatuning Eagle Weekend beginning at 6 p.m. March 19 and ending at 2 p.m. March 21.
Participants will travel to various locations around Pymatuning and the surrounding area to observe nesting, perching and soaring mature and immature bald eagles and other raptors and waterfowl.
It is recommended that cabins be reserved with transportation and some meals provided. Reservations are required.
This program is designed for adults. Call the park office today to register for the program at a cost of $60 per person, $100 per couple. Cabin reservations: 888-727-2757, with cabin rental extra. Dress to be outdoors.
Dorothy Boitnott to celebrate 90th birthday
MERCER — The family of Dorothy Boitnott is having a card shower for her birthday. She will turn 90 years old on March 11. Cards can be sent to her at: 146 S. Otter St., Mercer 16137.
Audubon Society announces events
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Bartramian Audubon Society announces its events that are free and open to the public. Membership meetings are held on the second Monday monthly, hosted by Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, Slippery Rock. Topics include:
• Monday — 7 p.m., Dr. Charles Shultz, geologist and retired professor, will recount his visit to the Galapagos Islands.
• April 12 — 7 p.m., Thomas R. Lord, co-author of “The Ferns and Fern Allies of Pennsylvania,” will give presentation on the fern species of Pennsylvania.
• May 12 — 7 p.m., the society will honor those who have made a significant contribution to the local Audubon cause. Scholarship will be presented and new members of the sanctuary programs will receive their sanctuary signs.
Other activities are:
• June 6 — 4 to 7 p.m., BAS annual picnic at the home of Daniel and Patricia Call, 117 Katie Way, Chicora/Butler. The society will provide hot dogs and drinks. Please bring a dish to share, your own place setting and a folding chair. Food will be served at 5 p.m. Participants are urged to come early to walk.
