SHARON — Noah Spaulding of Greenville won Saturday’s Great American Super Kids Soap Box Derby for special needs children in Sharon.
Noah will compete July 25 in the All American Soap Box Derby, Akron, Ohio, the championship of derby races featuring drivers from throughout the world.
Noah took a victory lap on East State Street following the race while singing “We Are the Champions,” and is looking for a way to maneuver his wheelchair while holding the trophy, said Pam Dorfi, race organizer.
Other top finishers:
• Prestin Allen, Masury, second place.
• Nathan Bortner, Hermitage, third place.
• Bryan Cornelius II, Sharpsville, fourth place.
• Simon Moore-Watson, Erie, fifth place.
• Lauren Plummer, Oil City, sixth place.
• Megan Freeze, Hubbard, seventh place.
• Dillon Hamilton, Hermitage, eighth place.
A total of 37 children raced, and 125 volunteers helped out.
Sharon Elks Lodge 103, Sharon, of which Ms. Dorfi is a member, founded the race, and Harry P. Nemenz of Sharon Save-a-Lot was the lead sponsor.
