• Shenango River Watchers’ Annual Earth Day Cleanup is Saturday at two locations. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at both locations: Sharon City Centre parking lot (look for the tent), downtown Sharon, and in Jamestown (follow the signs on Liberty Street for registration location). Lunch will be provided. All welcome.
• Fellows Riverside Garden’s daffodil show will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Millcreek Metropark garden in Youngstown. It is one of 41 shows throughout the U.S. associated with the American Dafodil Society. Entries from the public will be accepted until 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by judging and viewing. A special feature will the unveiling of Narcissus “Fellows Favorite,” a daffodil cultivar named for Fellows Riverside Gardens’ 50th anniversary in 2008. • There will be a free workshop on annuals and perennials at 11 a.m. Saturday at DJ’s Greenhouse, 1004 E. Lake Road, Transfer. Info: 724-962-1230.
• A child safety seat inspection will be from noon to 4 p.m. May 1 at Mercer County Career Center, 776 Greenville Road, Mercer. Parents and caregivers can have their car seats inspected for free. They can receive answers to questions about child passenger safety when they come to the inspection event. Please bring the instructions that came with the car seat and the vehicle owner’s manual for reference. It is also helpful if the child is present. A national estimate from Safe Kids Worldwide is that four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly. This inspection is sponsored by Safe Kids of Mercer County, PennDOT, PA Traffic Injury Prevention Project, State Farm, and Mercer County Career Center.
• The Red Hat Society “Rejoicing Women” of Farrell will hold its fourth annual tea from 1 to 3 p.m. May 2 at the Lavigne Community Center, Farrell. Theme for the evening is “Mother and Daughters Relationships.” Guest speaker will be Pastor Aquanetta Osborne and guest soloist is Lady Monica Avery. Tickets are $7. Fundraisers
• Club Pet Adoption’s 2nd annual reverse raffle dinner is Saturday at the Reynolds VFW. Doors open at 5 p.m. with activities, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The grand prize drawing worth $1,200 is at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50 a couple and includes two dinners, a main board number, beer, pop, coffee and water. • A spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction to benefit Sherry Stone, who suffers from Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is set for 2 to 6 p.m. April 25 at the Elks Sharon Lodge 103, 260 E. Connelly Blvd., Sharon.
• Presbyterian Women of First Presbyterian Church of Sharon, 600 E. State St., will hold a two day rummage sale and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 1 and 2. All items will be half price on May 2. Lunch also available.

• Relay for Life of the Shenango Valley holds a Paws for a Cure Dog Walk and Community Day May 2 at shelter 2 of Buhl Park. Registration from 9 to 10 a.m.; opening ceremony and blessing of the animals at 10 a.m.; dog walk begins at 10:30 a.m.; dog games and activities, team fundraising, exhibitions, contests, food and vendors at 11:30 a.m.

Bus trip
• The Penn Power Retirees will be heading to the Meadows Casino in Pittsburgh May 12 from the Hermitage K-Mart at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $25. Please bring ID with you. The group also has plans to travel to Riverside Inn on July 14. On Sept. 20-24, the retirees will visit the Wildwood, Cape May and Atlantic City area for a five day and four night trip with lodging, four breakfasts, four dinners, plus entertainment.
