Buhl Community Center sets dance, poetry



SHARON — Buhl Community Recreation Center, 28 Pine Ave., Sharon, hosts these classes:

• Poetry — The 10-week class starting in January, is for 12- through 18-year-olds. Poetic styles, techniques and experimenting with vast prompts are included. Cost is $20 for nonmembers; and free to members in seventh through 12th grades.

These classes will be Wednesdays, Jan. 14 through March 4:

• Adult beginner line dance — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

• Adult basic beginner ballroom — 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

These classes will be Thursdays, Jan. 15 through March 4:

• Adult intermediate line dance — 6 to 7 p.m.

• Adult basic beginner ballroom — 7 to 8 p.m.

Cost for dance classes is $20 for members; $30, nonmembers.

Shenango Valley YMCA announces programs



HERMITAGE — Shenango Valley YMCA, 925 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, announces these events:

• Tiny Tots — For 3- and 4-year-olds.

• Yoga for children — For second- through sixth-graders.

• Homeschool gym class — For all ages.

• Art class — For second- through sixth-graders.

First United Methodist taking Angel Food orders



SHARON — Angel Food Ministry orders will be taken 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and Monday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in First United Methodist Church, 237 W. Silver St., Sharon.

Cost for a basic food unit is $30; and $28 for the senior box. Cash, money orders and food stamps will be accepted. Checks will not be taken.

Food can be picked up from 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 17 in the church. A small box, laundry basket or cooler should be used to carry home food.

McKeever center hosting ‘Winter Tree ID’ program



SANDY LAKE — “Winter Tree ID” forest dendrology workshop will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 23 in McKeever Environmental Learning Center, 55 McKeever Lane, near Sandy Lake.

Teachers, outdoor leaders and homeowners will leave with instructional materials and a tree identification disc.

Those attending should dress appropriately for the weather. Cost of $25 includes materials, breaks and lunch.

Hermitage Parks and Recreation sets trio of trips



HERMITAGE — Hermitage Parks and Recreation is hosting these trips:

• Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Phoenix Suns — 7 p.m. Feb. 11 in Cleveland. Leaving at 4:30 p.m. that day from Hermitage city building. Cost is $55 and includes game ticket and bus transportation.

• Holiday Valley ski trip — Jan. 18. Bus leaves at 7 a.m. from the parking lot of Hickory High School, Hermitage, and returns at 7 p.m. Costs are $25 for the bus; $45, lift; $24, ski rental; $29, snowboard rental; and $30, group lessons. Call for junior rates for 6- through 11-year-olds.

• Holiday Valley ski trip — Feb. 22. Bus leaves at 7:30 a.m. from Hickory High’s parking lot and returns at 7 p.m. Fees are $25 for the bus; $34, lift; $21, ski rental; $26, snowboard rental; and $20, group lessons. Call for junior rates for ages 6 through 11.
