Reunions

• Brookfield High School class of 1969 will hold its 40th class reunion from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Metroplex, Interstate 80 and state Route 193 in Liberty, Ohio. Dinner choices are stuffed chicken breast, New York strip steak or pasta primavera. All dinners include garlic smashed red skin potatoes, vegetable medley, garden salad, rolls and butter, coffee, tea, water, New York style cheesecake or chocolate truffle cake.

The hotel will hold 10 rooms for the reunion. Cost of the room includes a continental breakfast. Check-in is at 3 p.m. Oct. 17 and check-out is at noon Oct. 18. Reservations must be made by Sept. 19. Info: 888-447-0606 or 330-759-0606.

An ice breaker will be held after 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the newly remodeled Sky Club on Sharon’s West Hill.

• Sowash reunion for descendants of Harry and Bessie Sowash, families of Val Jean McCurdy Dixon, Maxine Brannon Tompkins, Carol Maloney Mortimer, is set to begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at shelter 1 in Buhl Farm park, Hermitage.

Family and friends are welcome.

• Jackson Center Borough and Jackson Township country schools reunion will begin at 1 p.m. July 26 at the Jackson Center Community Park pavilion, along U.S. Route 62, Franklin Road, in the middle of town. Along with the borough school, township schools were Jones, Cass Ridge, Paoli , Hazzard and Hodge.

Former students, teachers and guests are asked to take a tureen and their own table service.

• Farrell High School class of 1949 holds its 60th class reunion Aug. 15-16 at Oak Tree Country Club, Shenango Township.

Picnics

• Wilmington Area AARP 3954 will hold its annual picnic at 5 p.m. July 23 at Marti Park. A brief meeting will be held after the picnic and will be followed by an evening of bingo.

Members are asked to take a covered dish and a friend. Tableware will be provided.

The picnic will be held rain or shine.

• GTI annual picnic is 1 p.m. July 18 in Perry Community Park.

Take a covered dish and table service. Coffee, lemonade and iced tea will be provided.

Special events

• Mercer County Senior Follies presents “Happy Days Are Here Again” at 7 p.m. Aug. 1 and 2 p.m. Aug. 2 in the auditorium of Hickory High School, Hermitage.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the door.

Proceeds will be donated to Shenango Valley Center for Aging and Geriatric Health, Hermitage.

The event is sponsored by Mercer County Area Agency on Aging and co-sponsored by Countryside Personal Care.

• Sundaes in the Park runs 1 to 5 p.m. July 19 in Stoneboro Park.

Entertainment provided by Stoneboro Methodist Church and The Emmanuel Church band. There will be a duck race in the creek, quilt raffle, Chinese raffle and door prizes.

The event is sponsored by The Stoneboro Garden and Preservation Society.

Takeouts available. In case of rain, event will be held in the Stoneboro firehall.



Bus trip

• Penn Power retirees of Clark will travel Sept. 20-24 to Wildwood, Cape May and Atlantic City, N.J.

The four-night, five-day trip includes eight meals.
