Monks of the Gaden Shartse monastary in India craft an intricate sand mandala at Westminster College, New Wilmington. The Buddhist monks worked two or three at a time on the mandala from Monday through Thursday, when it was completed and ceremonially dissolved, its contents passed to attendees or ritualistically taken to a body of water. In being dissolved, it is not destroyed, but transformed from one form to another.
